What Is Paintless Dent Repair?

Paintless dent repair, or paintless dent removal, is a process of removing minor dents and dings from the body of a motor vehicle without having to repaint it. Repairs made this way require a skilled technician with experience in the field since it is almost an art form to remove the dent without cracking the paint.

How Is It Done?

Paintless dent repair is a collection of techniques that push the dent out from the inside. Special tools are used to work the metal from the inside out until you can’t see the damage anymore. Special lighting is used to see the distortion of the dent and to help the technician locate the tip of the tool being used to force the metal back into place.

When Is It Useful?

Paintless dent repair is great for repairing the little dents with a lease return, an auction preparation, or rental car maintenance. It is also used for hail damage and door dings. This method works on both aluminum and steel panels. However, if there is paint damage or the dent is too deep, this may not be the solution. Usually the shallower the dent, the better of your chances of using paintless dent repair. The dent can be large in diameter, but not deep. A traditional repair and paint job may then be required.

How Do I Know if Paintless Dent Repair Will Fix My Vehicle?

Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to have an expert inspect your damage. If the dent is too big or deep or paint is missing, you are a candidate for a traditional repair. Contact us to arrange an inspection of your dent. We will be glad to advise you on the best repair method.
